Built for a real situation
The idea behind GPS Tools came from a simple problem: when you need to tell someone exactly where you are, it's surprisingly hard. You're hiking, broken down on an unfamiliar road, or waiting somewhere and the person trying to find you has no idea how far away they are or which direction to head.
The Share My Location tool solves that. Open it, tap Copy Share Link, and send the link to anyone. When they open it on their phone, their location auto-fills as the starting point — they instantly see the distance between you, the bearing, and a live navigation arrow using their device compass to point them directly toward you. No sign-up. No app. It works on any phone with a browser.
You can also record a GPS track of anywhere you walk, then share it as a link. The recipient sees your route overlaid on their map — useful for coordinating search areas, marking a trail that worked, or showing someone exactly where you went.
The tools
Tap once to copy a link with your exact GPS coordinates. When someone opens it, they instantly see the distance and direction to you — no app, no account, works on any phone.
Coordinate search coverage without an account. Each searcher records their path, taps "Add my path," and shares the updated link with the next person. The map grows as coverage builds — nothing is stored anywhere. Includes a QR code for quick handoffs in the field.
Find your exact coordinates and address using always-on GPS — no refresh needed. Record a track of your route, save it, and share it as a link or download the file. Overlay tracks shared by others directly on your map. Save and toggle locations, and click any saved location to pan the map to it.
Calculate the straight-line distance, bearing, and midpoint between any two GPS coordinates. Open a shared location link to enter Find Them mode — a live navigation arrow points you toward the destination and turn guidance updates as you move.
See your current elevation in meters and feet. Track elevation changes over time with the live chart — useful for hiking, cycling, or any activity where altitude matters.

Privacy — the short version
GPS Tools collects nothing. When you grant location permission, your coordinates are used only to fetch results — they are never stored or shared. We don't use analytics, cookies, or any form of tracking. There is no account, no database, and nothing saved beyond what stays on your own device.
The links generated by the Share My Location tool contain only latitude and longitude — no hidden data. Saved locations and tracks stay entirely on your own device and never leave it. Once you clear your browser data, they are gone.
Free, no strings attached
Every tool on this site is completely free to use. There is no premium tier, no usage limit for visitors, and no plans to change that. GPS Tools is built on top of free, open-source mapping and weather services — and built with the same spirit.
